About SASSA Guide
SASSA Guide is an independent information website. We are not the South African Social Security Agency, we are not the Department of Social Development, and we have no affiliation with any South African government body. We do not process grant applications, review appeals, or make payments. When you need to take any official action, use the official channels listed below.
What this site does

How we verify facts
Every grant amount, contact number, URL, and payment date on this site is checked against official SASSA and government sources before publishing, and re-checked when we update articles. Where a fact is contested or a source contradicts another, we flag it internally and either withhold the fact or state the ambiguity in plain English rather than guess. Our current unresolved verification flags are tracked internally and updated as SASSA publishes new guidance.
What we will never do
- Ask you for your ID number, PIN, banking password, or one-time PIN (OTP).
- Charge you for any SASSA-related service. SASSA services are free.
- Promise to speed up your application or "unlock" a declined status.
- Send you WhatsApp or SMS messages asking you to click a link and enter personal details.
